The Cotham Porter Stores is one of Bristol's oldest pubs and one of the last remaining traditional cider houses in the city. Founded by the mid 19th century and continually in use as a pub, the Stores has become a real city institution. Andy Key, the current landlord, is determined that the Stores continues to serve the best traditional ciders - Thatchers Traditional and Cheddar Valley Red on draught and in bottles and the Bristol Cider Company's new bottled cider. For beer and lager drinkers, there is a range of guest beers (regularly varied), Smiles best bitter, Red Stripe on draught and the usual range of bottled beers and lagers. But there's no doubting that the real star of the show is the expertly kept range of traditional cask ciders - even the pub ghost drinks Thatchers! Like all established institutions, the Cotham Porter Stores has more than its fair share of traditions and legends, from the creation of the pub sign of Gypsy John, to the mural in the bar - believed by some to have been painted by the leader of the Beatles and locally known as 'The Lost Lennon'. Is it true? Come in, have a pint of Thatchers and decide for yourself! Then there's the Cotham Porter Stores cricket club (prominent recent player, Mr A. Key), with a long history of glorious wins, at least one of which was achieved using the Legendary Bat. The proof is hanging on the wall and is best savoured with a pint and a slice. Welcome to the Cotham Porter Stores. Now the best on-line cider house in the world. Or at least the southwest of England...
